American Shorthair (short coat)
Before you ask, yes, I realize I am not a dog. But right now I live with three of them and we all get along fine. I especially like it when I find an empty dog bed around the house to curl up in and take a nap! I like to think that in my life before this, I was the beloved pet of an elderly couple who crossed a bridge and had to leave me here. Somehow I ended up sad and alone and in the middle of a road where a kind soul found me and took me in, calling a friend in dog rescue to see if there was room in the 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue for a very underweight, lonely little cat who loves to cuddle. The Rescue folks took me to the vet, where I got a bath and a full check-up. The vet said I was in serious need of some good nutrition and a lot of TLC to get me strengthened up. You see, my teeth (the ones that are left) are broken and painful and covered in plaque, so it is not easy for me to eat. The Rescue found me a foster mom who works with me every day to help me eat enough so that my coat looks a lot healthier and I have even gained a few ounces! The vet said my heart and kidneys and everything looks good enough that I can get my dental care done now!! Then I will be able to eat so much easier!! I am a well-behaved older gentleman who uses the litter box, and I will greet you each time you come home! My hearing isn't the best, so if I don't hear you call me, it isn't because I am ignoring you. Once I am recovered from my dental care, I will be ready to find my forever home!! And if you are looking for a senior cat AND dog, check out my foster brother RUSTY the beagle mix--we have been spending the last few weeks together! Special Needs: Soft/pureed foods until given medical clearance for anything else. Marco eats better from a flat plate than a bowl. Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs.
