Join Our Pack! On a daily basis, we have new foster dogs and cats coming into the system that need medical care, such as insulin, heart meds, allergy meds etc. Won't you be part of the pack and help with a monthly donation?
2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

Hi, I'm Budah! I am one of the 42 dogs that was rescued from a hoarding situation where I spent my days in a crate with other dogs (and cats!) without the freedom to know what it is to be a dog. You'd think I'd have a lot to learn, but I act like I'd been a family pet for my whole life. Although I am nearly blind (only a fraction of sight in my left eye), I learned my way around my new foster home, including the yard, basement & all the doors to go outside in less than 24 hours. In that time I also learned to pick my foster mom's voice out of a crowd and orient to her to navigate to where I needed to go. Sleeping in be with my foster parents and one of my canine foster sisters is the very best, so are long walks, bones and plenty of opportnunity to stretch my legs around the house and yard. I am crate trained and mostly house trained. I love to cuddle up on a lap and will follow my people around where ever they go. I ride well in a car, too! I'm learning to walk on a leash, but I tend to walk to the left because that is the only direction that I can see...so I zig-zag a lot, but I get where I want to go! For this reason I would not be comfortable in a family with younger children (under 10).
I would love to meet you, so please fill out an application!
Additional Notes: Budah is adjusting well to being in a home. He is definitely NOT house trained & has yet to learn that when I take him out it is time to use the facilities. He'll well figure it out, of that I am sure.

Budah has also made it clear that he is NOT a fan of the crate and would prefer to spend as little time in one as possible. I don't blame him, as he probably has spent most of his life in one up until now. Still, with other dogs in the house & his vision impairment, it is the safest place for him when his people are not home.
*** Please excuse the pink harness during the walks. It is the only one we had to fit a smaller dog & Budah didn't seem to care. A manly red one has since been purchased for him.
More about Budah
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
Special Needs: Budah has a vet appointment on 4/11 for a thorough check up to see if there are any special medical needs for his eyes or joints.
Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
