Join Our Pack! On a daily basis, we have new foster dogs and cats coming into the system that need medical care, such as insulin, heart meds, allergy meds etc. Won't you be part of the pack and help with a monthly donation?
2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

Dasha (pronounced D aah she), which is Russian for Dorothy, came from South Carolina. Her owners signed her and two of her friends over to a high kill shelter so they wouldn't face cruelty charges. She was going to be put down the day we called, so we're thankful that she has come into our family.
Things weren't always "sunshine and roses" with Dasha. She was very upset and very scared at first, but we really can't blame her for all she's been through. After some love and attention, she's settled down into her foster home. She now enjoys following her foster mommy around when doing house chores, cuddling, taking walks and chasing birds, bugs, bees, butterflies...pretty much anything that moves. It does take her a while to warm up to other four-legged friends, but she's a sweetie once she does.
There is one very important thing you need to know about Dasha and it's that she has a Love Bucket. No lie! It's located right inside of her tiny heart. That bucket needs filled every day, which means she needs someone to pet her, rub her head, scratch her ears, love on her, snuggle with her and let her know that she's loved. Don't worry about monitoring the bucket, she'll let you know when it's low :)
The old saying goes "Don't judge a book by it's cover", and the same is true here. No one but Dasha will ever really know what the first few years of her life were like. We can't erase them for her but what we can do is love her as much as we can. Please consider looking past her scars and her little snores (don't tell her I told you that) and become her forever family. Become the family that will love and cherish her for who she is.
Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
