Join Our Pack! On a daily basis, we have new foster dogs and cats coming into the system that need medical care, such as insulin, heart meds, allergy meds etc. Won't you be part of the pack and help with a monthly donation?
2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!
Cody has separation anxiety issues and cannot be left alone for too long. He does NOT like to be crated. Please no homes with small children either because of his size. Basically he needs someone that is home and wants a companion to keep them company. He would love to have a brother/sister pup to play with or just as happy playing with you or sleeping in your arms also! He knows how to sit and will also retrieves his toys for you!
My name is Cody and I love everybody! I really like my new brother who is a Shih tzu (I never met a Shih tzu in my WHOLE LIFE!). I think he's really cool and I want to be just like him. I like my Shih tzu sister too, but she's kind of bashful. I like her lots and can't wait until she wants to play with me. I told her I'm as nice as I am cute.
Hello guys I'm Cody M. Please don't confuse me with my buddy just Cody! I gotta say I love love love giving my Foster Mommy and Daddy LOTS of kisses. I love to be held almost as much as I like to explore my new world. I'm very small and my Foster Mommy says I'll probably gain a little weight and then I'll be SUPER handsome! I like to go for walks with my Foster family, but I would really like a home of my own...some place where I can be with my new family all day (at least one member) because I get nervous when I'm left alone. See, I had a really bad experience before I came to my Foster Mom and Dad - I was lost in a BIG CITY for 10 days and now I'm really scared when I'm alone.
6/13/2011 Update ~ Hi! I just wanted to update you about my first week with my foster family. I love to play with my shih tzu brother and sister. And now I have a new brother to play with, Pee Wee (a Pomeranian)! He was lost and my foster mommy and daddy took him in too! The 3 boys run around the house chasing each other and stealing each others toys. We have races to see who can run the fastest. My foster sister usually is the one on the couch above us all yapping, cheering us on! Sometimes she joins in on the race. My foster Mommy and Daddy just sit and laugh at us. I guess they like to watch us have fun! They say I'm a really good boy and can't figure out why my old mommy didn't want me. I love to be held like a baby and fall asleep like that in your arms! I am having so much fun here and I know there is someone out there that will want to keep me forever and ever!
More about Cody McKain
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
Cody McKain's companion, PeeWee McKain (adopted) can also be seen on our website.
Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
