Join Our Pack! On a daily basis, we have new foster dogs and cats coming into the system that need medical care, such as insulin, heart meds, allergy meds etc. Won't you be part of the pack and help with a monthly donation?
2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

Howdy my name is Louie! I'm what some may call a big lovable teddy bear. I don't really comprehend my size as I just love love love to be someone's lap dog. If I can't be on your lap then please just let me be your foot warmer and lean agaist your legs just so I know your not leaving me. Also you know if I am keeping you feet warm the least you can do is rub my head and if for some reason you have a mental lapse I will ensure to remind you by putting my head under your hand. I currently live with children and they are not so bad but less I remind you that I am a big boy who does not comprehend my size (ex. lap dog) and therefore when I get excited at seeing the leash or the prospects of going outdoors I can knock the youngsters in the house over. I met a really cool German Shepard the other day and after some sniffing all was good. My mommy jokes that I sound so mean from the house but the minute someone or another dog come into my space I just want to play and lick them to death. Just an FYI me and a car had a bad history. When I was younger I met up with a car and ended up with a few stitches to my rear leg. Not sure what that will cause in the future but right now my leg is all good! Won't you consider letting me be your teddy bear and sharing your home and large yard space with me?!
Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
