2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)
When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application.
The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)
Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

4/21/13 UPDATE WOW! Look at me! I am sooooo beautiful since my fur has grown in! I think I could win a beauty contest now. I still receive my medicated baths, eye drops and regular ear cleanings but geez I feel so good! I do cough sometimes but Doc says I have a collapsed trachea whatever that means. It doesn't bother me much though.  Everybody laughs at me alot lately because I "bounce" around. Well, I can't help it because I am such a happy girl! I also like to act like a big dog sometimes and just go "ruff" to see if anybody will laugh at me! I am just so funny! REALLY!!! Just ask my foster mommy and daddy. My foster daddy even asks me to go ruff and I do it for him! I love to sit on the sofa and play with anybody who will give me attention. I am house trained and such a good girl. I would really love to find my forever home now since I am so much more healthy than when I first came to 2nd Chance.
1/13/2013 UPDATE: Bindi is doing so well! She has completely adapted to foster care. People who meet her fall in love with her personality immediately. Her tail just goes and goes when you speak to her! She will need a home with no small children and someone who will take care of her medical needs. She is currently on eye drops for some slight pigmentation in her good eye which she tolerates fairly well. She is totally blind in her left eye. She also needs regular ear clearing and care and the most important she requires a medicated bath every week because of yeast. All of that being said, this is one HAPPY GO LUCKY little girl! She would love to be the only dog in the house because she does not like to share attention but she is workable with that. She has gotten so much "bounce" back in her because she feels so good! She loves to lay on the sofa beside you and wants to chew your hand so she needs to have something doggie to chew on such as a Busy Bone. Doc says she has come along so well. She is now just looking for her forever home where her "special" needs will be very well taken care of.

Poor Bindi was brought into the shelter as an owner turn in . . . very scared and in much need of a grooming and some TLC as she is terrified! The person dropping her and her sister off didn't even know if she was a male or female! She is now with 2nd Chance and getting just that, a 2nd Chance at life!  She is a senior looking for some tender loving care and a home that she will feel safe in! We will update more on Bindi and Baylee as we get to know them and shower them with care and love.

Not Good with Cats

Please fill out an adoption application:
Adoption application (Dog)
Adoption Application (Cat)

Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.

A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
