Things are such a mess in my life right now! Maybe you can help me figure things out... The humans with whom I have lived for as long as I can remember suddenly said I could not live with them anymore. Something to do with having to lose our house and go somewhere that no pets are permitted. Who would live in a place like that?? But I guess they did and they left me with a temporary foster family, who got all my shots and necessary stuff up-to-date, and started looking for a forever place for me to live. As you can maybe imagine, all these sudden changes in my life--new people all the time--no familiar surroundings---even the food seems different sometimes--have left me feeling a bit anxious at times. Small children are too unpredictable for me to be around for now, but I ignore any cats you may have and love to share my toys with other dogs or will nudge you into a game of "tug-of-war" or "chase" when you least expect it. I am housebroken, and generally you won't hear me bark much unless I need to go out to use the "facilities". Anywhere you are is where I like to be! I will follow you closer than your own shadow sometimes; other times, I prefer to nap in an area of my choice--often behind the bathroom door. When we go out for walks, I tend to get anxious to get to our destination, and am working on that "walk beside the person holding the leash" skill. While I do have a crate for bedtimes and alone times, it is honestly not my favorite place to be. Now that I have demonstrated to my foster family that I can keep their feet just as warm as my foster brother, I prefer to sleep at the foot of the bed, or on the floor next to one of these people who have been so kind as to take me in. I understand about going in my crate when I am told to do so, but a little bribe (a treat ot piece of cheese) makes the whole "locked up" situation a little less disturbing. I am getting close to doggy middle-age, but you would never know it to watch me! My steps are peppy and I love to parade throughout the house with one of my toys when you return from work! Kind of a personal "welcome home" parade!! If you have a home where a delightful, large-pawed pal could spend a few years, I would love to meet you!! Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs.
