Join Our Pack! On a daily basis, we have new foster dogs and cats coming into the system that need medical care, such as insulin, heart meds, allergy meds etc. Won't you be part of the pack and help with a monthly donation?
2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

How often does a girl get a chance to reinvent herself? For me, I am starting today!! My new and forever name will be Katy. (Katherine Hepburn sounded a bit too formal and I am pretty playful!) Up to now, my life has been full of downright awful stuff--lies, abandonment, imminent death--like a bad movie. But no more! This girl is changing her life and needs a human or two to co-star in what is sure to be a long and happy life! Only those with integrity and a big heart should consider me, because I have probably another 15 years or more of fun and love in me. Please don't make what could be a beautiful friendship become a tragedy by saying you will keep me forever, then changing your mind. I have been through that. This time it is a fairy-tale ending for me. I love having other dogs around--we can play or nap all day while you work, and when you are home, we can walk and RUN and walk some more. Getting into better shape is part of my new image--daily exercise will help both of us be healthy and happy! Occasionally, my "inner hound" comes out and the urge to chase things and howl cannot be suppressed. For this reason, it is best if there is a fenced yard to keep me safe. I listen pretty well, but that instinct thing is pretty strong and those rabbits and squirrels are out there... If you feel it is best, I will willingly stay in a well-padded kennel when you cannot be with me, and I won't even complain about it. But I really am a snuggle bug at heart, and I just love being wherever the humans are! Got cats? I've lived with them. They do their cat stuff, I leave 'em alone. I am housebroken, but you probably figured that one out. And I do love to eat, but am working on my moderation to get my figure back! Sometimes it takes me a few minutes to warm up to new people--so many of them have been mean to me and lied to me. So when you meet me, just give me a couple minutes to "audition" you. If you are the right human for me, we will both know it before the opening credits are done!
Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!

PLEASE BE AWARE: Adoption questions are not website questions! If you have questions about adoption or a specific dog, fill out an Adoption Application and the dog's foster will get in touch with you.
