2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)
When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application.
The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)
Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

9/30/2014 Update - Finnegan, who can also be referred to as Chunky Monkey because he's the chunkiest and stockiest out of all his brothers, is quite the character.  He loves to play.  Unlike his brothers, he will keep going until he's completely exhausted.  Once he gets tired, if there is a lap available, he will do everything in his power to be the one to sit on it, even if another dog is sitting there.  His need to snuggle is pretty cute and adorable.  If there was ever a blind/deaf dog that could get an award for being a risk-taker, Finn would get the top prize.  Nothing seems to faze him.  He has learned to climb steps, can navigate his way from one sofa to the other and likes to find trouble.  The problem is, it's sometimes hard to get upset with him because he's just so stinkin' cute!  Finnegan is a complete joy and is guaranteed to make you smile.

Well once again humans messed up :(   Because our humans didn't get our mommy and daddy fixed we are here and the bigger problem was that our parents were dapples so we are double dapples which causes birth defects :(  We were all born without sight and not sure whether we hear or not that is still being evaluated.  We don't deserve the cards we were dealt but we are happy, loving puppies and with the right owners we will have a wonderful life.  We still feel hugs and kisses and we get around just fine :)
We need fenced yards to keep us safe and another dog to be our seeing eyes :)

PLEASE ANSWER training question or the processing team will automatically delete your application.  We want a clear statement of what your training plan will consist of for a blind/deaf pup.

3/15/2014 Update - Finnegan stands out because of his half pink, half black nose.  His nickname used to be "Bully" because he's the one that could chew on his sister's ear while she slept or would bite Mulligan's lip while he tried to eat.  However, the last few days appears to show a softer side.  He is really enjoying getting held and just getting lots of TLC.  He seems to be the most vocal out of the group, at least when playing.  He definitely has a priceless personality!

Special Needs: Blind/deaf

Please fill out an adoption application:

Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.

A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
